An adventurous day out

Gautrain is an 80-kilometre per hour express commuter rail system in Gauteng, South Africa, which links Johannesburg, Pretoria and Kempton Park regions. It began operations within the year 2010. It takes 15 minutes to travel from Sandton to O. R. Tambo International Airport on the Gautrain and 35 minutes from Pretoria station to Park Station in Johannesburg. The Gautrain has 10 train stations in total. It also features other complimentary services such as bus travel and travel plans within the areas they operate in.

The Unshackle Your Worth team will be taking some Glammies (Glamourous Grannies) from the Vosloorus area who support the team in their various projects will be having their end of year day on 5 December 2025. The festivities will be taking place by the Gautrain and Pretoria area; the group will be visiting the Union Buildings and other recreational activities on offer. The majority of the Glammies have never used the Gautrain due to lack of means to do so or thinking that the service was too expensive.

In addition to this the Gautrain does offer discounts to the elderly on off-peak hours.

9 December 2025 Update*

The Glammies came out in numbers to share their time and joy under the sunshine on the 5 December 2025. The oldest one was 85 years old and gleaming with excitement that was comparable to a child in a sweet shop.

The plan was to meet up at The Gautrain at Park Station and then travel to Pretoria station. Upon arrival they would go to the Union Buildings and explore the entire landscape that is pivotal to South Africa's governance.

The laughter and adventure of the day was definitely one for the memory books.
